Christopher Etesse is running to represent Ward 2 Board of Education, which includes the communities of Georgetown, Dupont Circle, Logan Circle, Foggy Bottom, and Penn Quarter.
Early Life and Education
Christopher was born in Rochester, NY. After completing high school, he graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts in American History and a Masters in Computer Science. Christopher believes that every child should have access to every opportunity, and the right teacher at the right time makes educational experiences & life-changing dreams possible.
He moved to Washington, DC in 1997 and was one of the first twenty employees of a small startup in Washington, DC called Blackboard, Inc. that went on to become one of the largest worldwide providers of Online Learning.
Commitment to Service
Chris created his first online education tool while teaching Java Object Oriented Programming to freshmen and sophomores at the University of Kentucky. Chris has also served on the Loudoun Country Day School Board of Trustees, and currently serves on the University of Kentucky College of Engineering's Dean's Advisory Council.
Chris is a father who is passionate about technology, and believes that every child deserves a safe and fulfilling learning environment, and should never be hungry while learning, whether in our classrooms or remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chris' experience domestically and internationally across 20 years of Online Learning spans both the technical realm as well as the pedagogy and multiple stakeholders involved.
Faith and Community
Chris is a member of Epiphany Catholic Church in Georgetown, Washington, DC. He is also a business owner helping to fill the 3.5 million open and unfilled jobs in Cybersecurity, bringing opportunities to everyone, regardless of race, religion, or socioeconomic status.
He is the Technology Agent: passionate and courageous enough to bring his unique Online Learning skills and knowledge to our community in this time of need.
